Jorge Hermosilla Receives the Medal from the Central Board of Turia River Users
At the General Assembly of the Turia River Water Regulation Union, Jorge Hermosilla was awarded the JCURT Medal for his research and outreach work on irrigation in Valencia.
Today, Wednesday, June 10, the General Assembly of the Turia River Water Regulation Union was held. This union includes all the irrigation canals under the jurisdiction of the Water Tribunal of the Vega de València, and its president is José Soria, vice president of the Water Tribunal.
The conference focused, among other issues, on analyzing the damage caused by the storm that struck Valencia in October 2024 and, furthermore, on a presentation of the improvements implemented by government officials and the Valencian Regional Government to mitigate the consequences this disaster has had on the Valencian agricultural belt and irrigated lands.

At this annual meeting, as is tradition, the Regulation Union medal was awarded—an honor that recognizes the work of a professional in the field of irrigation. Thus, this year, José Soria, president of the JCURT and vice president of the Water Tribunal of the Vega de Valencia, presented this medal to Jorge Hermosilla for his research and outreach efforts related to the study of irrigation in Valencia.

Over the past three decades, the Research Unit of the Department of Geography at the University of Valencia has undertaken numerous projects in which the primary focus of analysis has been the traditional use of water.
Congratulations on this recognition and on the work you have done over the years.
