The Faitanar irrigation ditch is part of the Quart-Benàger-Faitanar hydraulic system and is one of its three main branches. However, from the administrative point of view, it depends on the community of irrigators of Benàger-Faitanar.

Its route is extensive and is divided into two clearly differentiated sections. The first presents an unusual singularity in the Vega of Valencia. For centuries, its water supply was diverted at the height of the old town of Manises, pouring into the Mislata irrigation channel. Approximately three kilometers downstream, in the vicinity of the Molí de Cabot, the flow was recovered by means of a tongue, giving rise to the Faitanar irrigation channel. From there, it flowed through the west of Xirivella and irrigated lands extending from this municipality to Massanassa.

In the middle of the 19th century, this route was modified. The community of irrigators financed the construction of a new ATM that connected the Manises roll with a point located a few hundred meters before the Molí de Cabot, where it connected with the traditional route.

The second part of the route, from the boundary between the municipalities of Xirivella and Valencia, functions as a conventional irrigation ditch. In this section, the water is distributed by means of dividers that give rise to arms perpendicular to the mother ditch, without the need to make divisions by means of tongues.
