In the absence of the syndic of the Quart irrigation canal, Mireia Sanmart\u00edn is the first woman to occupy one of the seats in the \u2018corralet\u2019. <\/p>\n\n<p>Sanmart\u00edn was elected by the General Assembly, fulfilling the dual requirement of being a landowner and a resident of Quart de Poblet. Currently, she balances her agricultural duties as deputy syndic with her professional life. For her, &#8220;agriculture is a passion; I love being in the fields and being able to work with my hands, outdoors, spending time with my father,&#8221; she says. <\/p>\n\n<p>Sanmart\u00edn highlights the great work done by the syndic of the Quart irrigation canal, Jos\u00e9 Espin\u00f3s, from whom she says she is learning a great deal, as well as from her other colleagues. She holds the position with particular enthusiasm, given that her father, Pascual Sanmart\u00edn, served as deputy syndic during the previous biennium.
